UIBE Scholarships
With a view to promoting the internationalization of higher education in UIBE, attracting more excellent international students to come and study, improving the quality of student sources, encouraging students’ enthusiasm to study, and exalting the spirit of progressing, the present regulations are formulated to reward the outstanding as examples to guide the international students to form good style and features for both studies and spirits.
Article 1 Examination and Appraisal Principles
To reach the objective of encouraging the advanced and rewarding the excellent, all the prizes established by the regulations shall be examined and appraised strictly by the principles of publicity, fairness and impartiality.
Article 2 Examination and Appraisal Departments
School of International Education shall be responsible for organizing and managing the appraisal and evaluation of the prizes;
All the related schools and departments shall take specific responsibilities for the recommendation and registration of students applying for the prizes;
The appraisal committee shall be made up by members from School of International Education, Office of Academic Affairs, Graduate School and other related schools and departments.
Article 3 Examination and Appraisal Objects
All the prizes established by the regulations shall be used as incentives to encourage registered international students of both Degree students and Non-Degree students in UIBE. Students with an approved temporary or permanent suspension of schooling are not included.
Article 4 Prize Categories
The categories of the prizes established by the regulations are as follows: Prize for excellent freshmen, prize for HSK achievements, prize for exceptional studies, prize for progress, prize for excellent graduates, prize for outstanding student cadres, prize for advanced classes, prize for the activists of social movements, prize for scientific research achievements, prize for scientific research assistance & teaching assistance, and some special prizes.
Article 5 Application Conditions
All the registered international students of both Degree students and Non-Degree students in UIBE can apply for the prizes in compliance with the examination and appraisal conditions. Students with an approved temporary or permanent suspension of schooling are not included.
Prize for Excellent Freshmen The prize shall be used as incentive to encourage those grade-one international students who had outstanding performance in the entrance examination the same year.
Prize for HSK Achievements The prize shall be used to reward those grade-one undergraduate international students who had outstanding performance in HSK. The prize shall be classified as first prize and second prize.
Prize for Exceptional Studies The prize is used to reward those students who are outstanding in their studies. They are appraised from undergraduates of grade two, three and four, post graduates of grade two, graduates for PhD degrees and registered students of Non-Degree students.
Prize for Progress The prize is used as incentive to encourage those students of Degree students who hold proper attitudes toward their studies, abide by rules and principles of the university, and have made evident progress in their studies.
Prize for Excellent Graduates The prize is used to reward the excellent graduating students.
Prize for Outstanding Student Cadres The prize is used to reward those students of both Degree students and Non-Degree students who work prominently as cadres in classes and students’ union. The prize is classified as first prize, second prize and third prize.
Prize for the Activists of Social Movements The prize is used to reward those students of both Degree students and Non-Degree students who are keen on activities organized by school and departments, have outstanding performance, possess strong ability to organize and have good prestige in public reliance.
Prize for Advanced Classes The prize is used to reward those classes, with responsible monitors that possess good general mood for studies, consciously abide the rules and principles of the university, and vigorously take part in various activities organized by the school and departments.
Prize for Scientific Research Achievements The prize is used to reward those students who have done exceptionally well in the students’ scientific research field or scientific research activities both in and out of the university.
Prize for Scientific Research Assistance & Teaching Assistance
Prize for Scientific Research Assistance: the prize is used to assist those post graduate students and students of PhD degree who are conducting major related scientific research.
Prize for Teaching Assistance: the prize is used to encourage all those international students who help the departments with certain teaching and research tasks.
11. Special Prize The special prizes are used to reward those international students who have made great contributions to UIBE.
Note: Students in one of the following situations are not allowed to take part in the appraisal of any prize in the year:
those who violate the laws and regulations of P. R. C.;
those who violate the rules and principles of UIBE;
those who violate the social morality and cause bad consequence;
those who have been absent from class for or over 8 times in any semester of the appraisal year.
Article 6 Process of Appraisal
Applicants will hand in an application in written form in reference to the apply conditions and standards of each prize;
Each school will hold an initial appraisal of the applicants and then send the list of candidates to the School of International Education;
The appraisal committee shall give an objective and impartial evaluation and examination, then bring up the name list of the awarded;
The committee will announce the name list of the awarded publicly and decide an objection date. Anyone who has objection about the name list should propose to the committee before the deadline;
The committee will hand in the awarded name list to the President’s office after the objection date, and the name list shall be effective with the President’s approval.
Article 7 Appraisal Periods
Students of Degree students: the appraisal of prize for excellent freshmen, prize for HSK achievements, prize for exceptional studies, prize for progress, prize for scientific research achievements, prize for scientific research assistance & teaching assistance starts in October every year; the appraisal of prize for excellent graduates, prize for outstanding student cadres, prize for advanced classes, prize for the activists of social movements starts in May every year;
Students of Non-Degree students: the appraisal of all the prizes begins at the end of each semester and those who win the prizes shall be awarded at the graduation ceremony;
The appraisal period for special prizes will be decided according to specific condition.
Article 8 The present Regulations shall become effective on the date of promulgation.
Article 9 The right of interpretation and explanation of the detailed rules is reserved by School of International Education UIBE.
