"Tobacco Free Initiative will establish a research and cooperation center in UIBE." said Dr. Ayda Yurekli on Tuesday, February 26, who is the coordinator of Tobacco Free Initiative (TFI) of World Health Organization (WHO).

TFI was established in July 1998; it concerns the global tobacco epidemic's massive toll of death, sickness and misery, and is mindful of the need to raise the profile of its tobacco control work. Its mission is to reduce the global burden of disease and death caused by tobacco, thereby protecting present and future generations from the devastating health, social, environmental, and economic consequences of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke. TFI collaborates closely with other WHO departments, and it has developed a network around the world including education institutions. “TFI welcomes students from UIBE.”said Dr Yurekli, “there will be a further meeting in discussing the cooperation details.”
Prof. Zhao Zhongxiu, vice president of University of International Business and Economics, introduced in details that UIBE has been working on promoting internationalization, and UIBE will positively support worldwide institutions in carrying on research, exchanges, and practical training. Collaborating with global universities and organizations is one way of improving the teaching level and quality of research.
This conference is among many of the collaborations and visits, so UIBE welcomes guests from all over the world.
